I left a drop box at the public library; I thought people would be more likely to donate materials anonymously. That part of the experiment was successful in its failure: I learned something about public practice and the importance of in-person contact, as only one person left materials in the drop box. Most people who donated were people I’d talked with about the project initially, when I was hanging the posters. Many of them had materials waiting for me when I dropped by to chat with them again, as was the case with Arby and Irma of A+I Hardware.
